I’m the Lesser Half

So I watched back-to-back episodes of “Catfish the TV Show” earlier today and am now kicked back before a TLC program called “Sex Sent Me to the ER.” This is me – the person I become when my husband is out of town.

Todd went away on business two days ago. Two. I couldn’t tell you precisely what he is doing. Me? I am throwing soup cans away. Seems I’m suddenly too lazy to walk to the garage where the recycling bin is kept. I am staying up past 1 o’ clock AM, much to my own detriment. I am giving the air conditioner the workout of it’s life. I am eating ice cream. Two servings. From a mug used earlier for coffee. That is what I am doing. Stuff like that.

Character is who you are when no one is watching.

  1. Hilarious. My husband is out of town for the week. Since he left two days ago, I’ve binge-watched a season of Scott and Bailey and one of Broadchurch. Last night, I ate a bag of black pepper chips and an entire bar of sea salt chocolate for dinner. (I also sliced up a cucumber. That made it an actual meal.)

  2. When you’re an adult there’s a kind of childish delight when you’re suddenly left alone for a while and realise you can do whatever you like! – I can sit around eating ice cream and watching TV all night and no one can stop me, ha!

  3. Ah, yes. Those solo moments of unadulterated self-indulgence. For me it’s always massive amounts of Chinese food takeout so that I have an MSG hangover that lasts till my beloved returns home. The home smells like so much peanut oil that you worry striking a match might blow up the place. Enjoy yourself!

  4. Personal side note: I stumbled upon the Catfish TV Show while on a visit to the US. That show seems a bit shady to me. The fact that they are ultimately always willing to meet. That bothers me when I watch it.

  5. My husband was gone for a week and my girls and I ate popcorn and smoothies for dinner in front of the TV every night. And it was heaven on earth.

  7. My wife was an ER nurse for over 20 years….you don’t want to hear some of the stories (one involved the lid from a spray paint can – use your imagination and then go throw up)
